The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko sacked his Head of Air Defence and the head of the Border Guards. The origin of the layoff is a peculiar episode. A Swedish aircraft invaded the airspace of the country and launched hundreds of teddy bears dressed in parachute and slogans in support of human rights.
Officials of the former Soviet state denied the event on July 4. However, Lukashenko held a government meeting last week and reeprendeu by these authorities permit a "provocation." The president still wanted to know why why the flight was not being stopped.
The Belarusian authorities also arrested a journalism student, who put pictures of teddy bears to fall into your blog, and a real estate agent who offered an apartment to Swedish side of the plane. The two men were accused of aiding the violation of borders and may incur up to seven years in prison if convicted.
Mazetti and Hannah Thomas Frey, the two Swedes who were responsible for the unusual event, said they planned to show their support for human rights activists in Belarus and also wanted to embarrass the military section of the country, a central pillar of the power of Lukashenko.
"There will be more people to support the Belarusian people," assured Hannah Frey.
The couple said it was inspiration from similar protests staged by Belarusian activists sometimes have stuffed toys arranged to protest against the regime.
Lukashenko has been dubbed the "last dictator in Europe", because it has stifled independent media.
